Ch-10 Approaching Goblins

The classroom was filled with a strange tension.

The goblin stood in the center, looking around restlessly as his gaze settled on a particular student.

I could see the student stiffen in response to the goblin's gaze.

It was Kagurazaka.

The hideous goblin seemed to grin as it slowly began to walk toward her.

Most of the students saw this as their chance and ran for the door.

I thought about doing the same, but my body wouldn't move. My legs refused to respond, paralyzed by the fear of the scene unfolding before me.

I wanted to run, but my body wouldn't let me.

"You bastard! Don't touch Kagurazaka-san!"

At that moment, instead of running away, Ishiguro, who had stayed behind, attacked the goblin from behind.

The goblin was caught off guard, stumbling from Ishiguro's tackle and falling to the ground. But it quickly recovered and retaliated, kicking Ishiguro away with incredible force.

"Gaha!"

Ishiguro was flung across the room and landed motionless on the floor.

Satisfied that Ishiguro was no longer a threat, the goblin resumed its approach to Kagurazaka-san.

Ishiguro was a member of the judo club-one of the strongest and most athletic guys in the class-but even he couldn't stop it.

If even Ishiguro couldn't fight it, what chance do I have?

I know I should use this opportunity to escape, but seeing Kagurazaka-san about to be attacked right in front of me, I just can't bring myself to leave.

However, there are no weapons in the classroom to fight a goblin.

Sure, there are desks and chairs, but they probably wouldn't be effective against it.

I don't have anything to use as a weapon.

The only thing I have is my smartphone.

I haven't done a gacha today.

So far, in the last six months, something resembling a weapon has only appeared once.

But there's still a chance - if even a frying pan could appear, then maybe, just maybe...

This is the only hope I have left.

"Please, God! Give me strength!"

I've never wanted something so badly in my life. I've never wished so hard as when I pulled a Gacha machine.

I tapped my smartphone with all my heart.

The counter for my Gacha spins disappeared, and in its place appeared the word "Hatchet 1."

At first, I didn't recognize the word. With an INT of 3, I wasn't familiar with kanji like that.

But when I saw the golden glow surrounding it, I understood.

This was it. This was my answer.

I had hit the jackpot. My wish had come true.

I didn't know if a hatchet would work on a goblin, but it was better than nothing.

To be honest, I didn't even know what a hatchet looked like. I hadn't even learned the kanji for it.

But there was no hesitation. I tapped "Hatchet 1."

In an instant, a blade that looked like a thick, square-edged kitchen knife materialized on the table in front of me.

I was right.

I gripped the hatchet with shaking hands, feeling its weight and sharpness.

Looking back at the goblin, I saw that it was now close enough to Kagurazaka-san to touch her if she reached out her hand.

Every instinct screamed at me to charge at it immediately, but I held my breath, waiting for the perfect moment.
